My maternal GGG- grandfather, William Doyle Richardson -- a Union veteran
of the Civil War, was born Dec. 7, 1847 in Madison Co., KY; however,
William grew up in Indiana. It was there in Lebanon, Boone Co., that he
enlisted in the Union Army on Mar. 20, 1863. He served as a private in
Company G, 63rd Indiana Regiment. In May of 1865, he transferred to
Company F, 128th Indiana Regiment. William mustered out on Apr. 10, 1866
in Raleigh, NC. His Declaration of Pension -- dated Oct. 7, 1919, states
that he was 5 ft. 7 1/2 in. tall, of fair completion, auburn hair, and was
a Farmer.
After the Civil War, the RICHARDSON family moved to Missouri. It was
there in Stockton, Cedar Co. that William married Angelina Light (b. Feb.
11, 1850 in VA) on June 6th, 1870. Their second child (their first child
was stillborn) -- a son, named Ananias, was born in Missouri on Mar. 10,
1871.
Sometime on, or before 1875, William Doyle Richarson, his wife -- Angelina
Light, and their son -- Ananias, moved from to the Turkey Creek
community of Callahan Co., TX.- Their second son, Lorenzo Dow "Loley"
Richardson was born in Cottonwood on Mar. 10th of that same year.
William & Angelina RICHARDSON had a total of eleven children -- ten of
which were born in Cottonwood. Four of the RICHARDSON children, including
Cal (Samuel Calloway, b. Aug. 18, 1885), Margie (Margaret Ann, b. Feb. 14,
1888), Ott (Otis Oliver, b. Apr. 26, 1890), & Leila (b. Dec. 15, 1893)
can be seen in a 1898
photo of
the Turkey Creek School on line.
Angelina Light RICHARDSON died Sept. 29, 1914 in Callahan Co., and is
buried in Cottonwood East Cemetery. William Doyle RICHARDSON, after
having been a long-time resident of Callahan Co., died Dec. 12, 1929 in
Clovis, Curry Co., NM. He was 82 years old. His youngest son, Otis
Oliver, served as the informant on his Death Certificate.
