ABILENE, Texas - Dan Stone, 85, of Abilene, formerly of Udall and
Wellington, died Feb. 6, 2002, at a local nursing center.
Services were held Feb. 10 in Abilene. Burial was in Cottonwood
Cemetery near Cross Plains, Texas.
Stone was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Udall, to Olive and Frank Stone.
In 1937 he married Joy Helen Batt in Shawnee, Okla.
He was employed by Halliburton for 45 years and retired as district
superintendent.
In 1992 he moved from Wellington to Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Stone, and a son, Tiff Stone, both
of Andrews, Texas; three daughters, Joyce Breeding and Amy Rutherford,
both of Abilene, and Sandee Smith, Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Oliver
Stone, Arkansas City, and Roy Stone, Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Amy Geist,
Wichita, and Dorothy Winburn, Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
