Bobby Joe Ramsey

Bobby Joe Ramsey, 59, died Friday in a local hospital.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday in View Baptist Church with the Rev. George Rake officiating. Arrangements were made by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.

Mr. Ramsey was born in Cottonwood and attended school at Butterfield, Mount Pleasant and Wylie Central. He served with the National Guard. He worked in the oil field, road construction and helped build the Amstead Dam in Del Rio. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 72 and was the widower of Elizabeth "Cookie" Clark Ramsey.

Survivors include three daughters, Audrey E. Heard of Mexia, Tracie A. Williams of Abilene and Retha Elkins of Paris, Tenn.; two sons, Butch Hester Jr. of Henry, Tenn., and Timothy D. Ramsey of Abilene; his parents, Joe and Edna Ramsey of Caps; four brothers, John Clayton Ramsey of Irving, Joseph Wayne Ramsey of Tuscola, Jim Eugene Ramsey of Faxon, Tenn., and James Howard Ramsey of Abilene; eight sisters, Margaret Alene McQueen of Locker, Wanda Marie Wolf of Greenville, Susie Francis Wallace, Linda Joyce Voyles, Dixie Louise McCracken and Jean Carrol Parsons, all of Abilene, Mary Helen Nurmi of Tye and Mildred Annett Liske of Alaska; 21 grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
