M.H. "Bob" Joy

BAIRD - M.H. "Bob" Joy, 81, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Baird First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will be in Admiral Cemetery, directed by Parker Funeral Home.

Mr. Joy was born in Cottonwood and married Louise Davis in 1936 in Abilene. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and worked as the Callahan County tax-assessor collector in the late 1940s. He moved to Baird in 1958 from Admiral and was employed as a department head by Texas Mental Health-Mental Retardation. He was a longtime summer league baseball coach in Baird and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Baird; three sons, Bob M. Joy of Cresson, and Terry E. Joy and Eric N. Joy, both of Baird; two sisters, Katherine Winchester of Cisco and Bobbie Nell Brown of Pioneer; one brother, R.F. Joy Jr. of Cross Plains; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
